Live music is a major part of life here. The Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra delights audiences and regularly brings in heralded guest musicians. Brazos Valley Chorale brings 100 voices from college students to retirees in presenting a wide range of music. Texas A&M's Memorial Student Center Opera and Performing Arts Society (MSC OPAS) has offered five decades worth of entertainment, including major musical acts. Texas A&M's Department of Music Activities features more than 1,300 students in bands, orchestras and choral groups who perform regularly. And musicians from country to jazz to rock and roll to hip hop pack venues across the region with their performances. In early 2022, the City of Bryan was certified as a Music Friendly community by the Texas Music Office, a division of the Office of the Governor of Texas.
