BVEDC Earns Economic Excellence Recognition

The Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation is the recipient of an Economic Excellence Recognition for 2019 from the Texas Economic Development Council.

The recognition was presented to the BVEDC and other honorees on the second day of the TEDC’s 2020 Winter Conference, held in College Station February 19-21. The City of College Station's economic development team is also among this year's honorees.

To qualify through the Economic Excellence Recognition program, economic development organizations must meet a certain level of training taken by board members, directors and staff. Certifications, professional membership and activities, and organizational effectiveness of the staff are also taken into account by the TEDC.

“Our staff is constantly striving for excellence and professionalism to enhance business recruitment efforts while providing value to the community and the jurisdictions funding the organization,” said BVEDC Board Chair Bobby Gutierrez. “We hope this is another example of the work we’re doing to help create quality jobs for our community. We’re grateful to the TEDC for their recognition of the BVEDC’s work in economic development.”

Since 1961, TEDC has been working to develop economic and employment opportunities in the state. The non-profit professional association provides information, educational and legislative services to approximately 850 members, of which the BVEDC is one.
