Bryan, Bryan ISD Honored for CTE Efforts

Several leaders in the City of Bryan, including members of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation's Board of Directors, were recently honored by the Career and Technical Association of Texas.
At CTAT's annual summer conference in late July, the organiztion gave out awards for outstanding efforts to improve and advance Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Texas communities.
  • Bryan ISD Superintendent and BVEDC Board Member Christie Whitbeck was named Champion of the Year
  • Bryan Mayor and BVEDC Board Member Andrew Nelson, along with the Bryan City Council, were named Business of the Year
  • House of Tires Owner, Bryan Planning & Zoning Commissioner and BVEDC Board Chair-elect Bobby Gutierrez was named Business Leader of the Year
  • Bryan ISD CTE Coordinator Kevin Ross was named CTE Administrator of the Year
The honors revolved around the efforts of the school district and city to significantly increase CTE training in order to meet the growing demands for a skilled workforce, including the purchase of a facility on 119 acres of Bryan land that will offer 50,000 square feet of space to teach students.
