Building Resilient Infrastructure
Integrating Cutting-Edge Nuclear Research with Practical Solutions
Texas A&M is a national leader in nuclear energy research and education. The Nuclear Engineering & Science Center—home to its reactor since 1961—supports both basic and applied research in nuclear science. With 500 students enrolled in its top-ranked program, the center not only serves as a multidisciplinary hub for education and public service but also offers critical services in irradiation, training, and isotope production. This robust infrastructure drives innovation in nuclear energy and lays a solid foundation for sustainable energy solutions.

Advancing Nuclear Technologies
Pioneering Safe, Scalable Nuclear Solutions
At the Energy Proving Ground, pioneering nuclear research is underway in collaboration with industry leaders. Testing small modular reactor (SMR) designs with key industry partners ensures the development of safe, efficient, and scalable nuclear power solutions. Streamlined regulatory processes, including an Early Site Permit with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, accelerate the path to commercial deployment. Designed to support multiple SMRs with a combined output of over one gigawatt, this initiative positions the region as a leader in sustainable, advanced nuclear energy.
